Cactus Chambray Kalle Shirt

When I first saw the Kalle shirt and shirt dress pattern by Closet Case Patterns I hadn't initially thought too much about it, but over time it kept popping up again and again on instagram. I started to really like the look of it, so I decided to give it a go as it seems like a very comfy shirt so I decided to make the cropped shirt version with a full collar and placket front. I love all the new cropped shirts and I like how the front is shorter than the back. I also really love the curved edge on the bottom.

This pattern presented many new techniques that I haven't really done before such as making a button placket, collar stand and the "Burrito method" for the back yoke. It was a bit of a challenge, but that's what made it fun and I am super happy with the way it turned out! The instructions were explained well and I feel the pattern has a lot of variability, with the different views and options for collars ad lengths, so I feel you get a lot for what you pay for. I struggled a little with sewing the facing on the curved hem where it meets at the side seam. Mine isn't perfect but that's okay, it is good practice for next time. I decided to add snaps instead of buttons as I was rushing to get this project finished before my summer camping holiday, and I ended up sewing the snaps and completing it while on vacation!

I made a size 8, which fits nicely though a little large, so the next time I might size down by one size. Overall happy with this one and I think that it is a well drafted pattern. :)
