The Cutest Garden Overalls with the Roemeria Pants & Coquelicot Pinafore

Spring is in full bloom and that means that I am spending a bit more time outdoors working in the garden and veg patch! Since creating the Roemeria Pants pattern, I had the idea in my head to create cute linen overalls with the Coquelicot Pinafore & Apron Expansion pattern, and the idea is now a perfect reality!

I recently shared on instagram a pleated front capris pants tutorial which I changed the front dart into a box pleat and cropped the pants to hit just below mid calf. I love how they turned out and I think it works really well with the tucks on the pinafore. Here is the tutorial if you wish to give it a go too:

The Roemeria Pants are very similar in design to the Coquelicot skirt as it features the same adjustable split side waistband, so adding the pinafore is a fairly simple! There are a few minor adjustments and precautions to take as the sizing chart and sizing structure of the Roemeria Pants is different than the Coquelicot skirt and Pinafore expansion.

The Coquelicot skirt (and its pinafore expansion) have the sizes grouped (00/0......14/16, 18/20, 22/24 etc.....) whereas the Roemeria pants have indivual sizes (00....6, 8, 10......18, 20, 22, 24 etc....) so I have created the chart below so you can match up the pants size (at the waist) to the size of the pinafore (at the waist) that corresponds the best:

Another minor adjustment that you will need to make is to reduce the height of the pinafore waistband. The finished height of the pinafore waistband is 4cm (1.5") whereas the Pants waistband is 3cm tall. So all you need to do before sewing is to reduce the height by 2 cm (3/4") (as the pattern piece is folded in half while sewing).

Happy Sewing and Happy Gardening! :)
